Illinois Railway (IR) provides local freight services, contract switching, car storage and transloading options to customers in north central Illinois. Four separate line segments serve the communities of Rockford, Peru, LaSalle, and Ottawa. IR is strategically positioned within the “Sand Capital of the World” and provides rail service to some of the largest sand mining operations in the USA. This location serves a diverse range of industries, including sand mining, metals, chemicals, plastics, fertilizer, forest products, cement products, and minerals.

IR also has multiple sites available for new business development and can provide reliable rail service for companies needing logistical support.
