Santa Maria Valley Railroad

The Santa Maria Valley Railroad (SMV) is located in California’s Central Coast and is a short drive to major cities such as San Francisco and Los Angeles. It was incorporated in 1911 to haul oil and asphalt from Roadamite to Guadalupe, CA. The 14-mile railroad interchanges with the Union Pacific Railroad at Guadalupe. The SMV handles a variety of commodities, including asphalt, fertilizer, frozen food products, and lumber. Historically, the railroad was known for its sugar beet traffic, but it has diversified its cargo over the years to support the local agricultural and industrial sectors. Transloading and car storage services are available.
