OmniTRAX named exclusive rail partner for WE Soda’s largest U.S. mine

GREEN RIVER, W.Y. – August 14, 2025 – OmniTRAX, one of the nation’s fastest growing privately held infrastructure companies, has signed a long-term agreement to be the exclusive third-party rail switching partner for WE Soda’s Westvaco mining facility, in Green River. Wyoming is home to 90% of the world’s trona ore deposits, and Westvaco is WE Soda’s largest North American mining operation. WE Soda is the world’s largest soda ash producer, supplying 80 countries with one of life’s invisible natural ingredients essential to consumers’ daily lives.

“WE Soda is the global market leader and a visionary company,” said OmniTRAX Co-CEO Dean Piacente. “We are excited to partner with WE Soda and provide safe and reliable rail service that can scale with their North American mining operations. WE Soda’s Wyoming facility is a vital production hub to serve domestic and global demand for soda ash.”

The new service agreement provides dedicated switching for WE Soda’s Westvaco mine, with annual cargo volumes projected to exceed 3.5M tons. Soda ash, also known as sodium carbonate, is a top ten global commodity. The natural compound is used in countless products that transform consumers’ lives, including the glass used in bottles, cars, and homes, and household essentials such as insulation, light bulbs, soaps, and detergents. Westvaco also produces other products such as sesqui carbonate, sodium bicarbonate, and caustic.

“The OmniTRAX partnership supports our continued investment in North American infrastructure and logistics, reinforcing WE Soda’s commitment to deliver sustainable, low-cost soda ash to customers worldwide,” said WE Soda Chief Executive Officer Oguz Erkan.

The infrastructure affiliate of the multi-billion-dollar Colorado based parent The Broe Group, OmniTRAX operates 31 railroads, serving ports, industrial parks and industry leaders across the country.
