Great Western Celebrates Windsor’s Quiet Zone Designation
Posted On: March 10, 2017

WINDSOR, COLO. – February 24, 2016 – The Great Western Railway of Colorado, LLC, an affiliate of OmniTRAX, Inc., released the following statement congratulating the Town of Windsor on the successful completion of its railroad quiet zone project:

“It is incredibly difficult to achieve a quiet zone designation, and we are so grateful for the hard work of local officials who fought for federal grant money and spent the last 10-years laboring away at this.  What communities don’t always realize is that in order to create a safe crossing that doesn’t require all that horn blowing, local officials are the ones who have to step up and take the lead to ensure that the increased risk caused by the absence of a horn is properly mitigated.

“In our business safety is one of our core values, which is why we so greatly appreciate the Town for their partnership and willingness to aggressively work on behalf of its residents to tackle this issue in a way that puts public safety first.

“Thanks to the quiet zone, Great Western’s trains will now move not only safely but also quietly through town.”
