Newburgh & South Shore Railroad Receives ASLRRA Award for Recruiting Military Veterans
Posted On: May 25, 2017

DENVER – The OmniTRAX Inc.-operated Newburgh & South Shore Railroad, LLC (NSR) was honored by the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) with the Richard F. Timmons Award, which recognizes efforts to recruit and support military veterans, at its 104th convention in Grapevine, Texas. The award, which is named for the former U.S. Army lieutenant general who served as ASLRRA’s president from 2002 to 2014, was presented to NSR for having the highest ratio of veterans in its workforces among member railroads.
“As a company, we are dedicated to supporting our servicemen and servicewomen across the branches of the military, both active and retired. They’ve made significant sacrifices to protect our freedoms, so it’s important that we show our commitment to them by providing jobs and training where we can,” said Kevin Shuba, CEO of OmniTRAX and a US Army veteran. “Receiving this award is an honor that will drive us to expand our veteran recruitment efforts even further.”

The NSR operates in the heart of Cleveland’s interstate highway system serving a diverse customer base that includes Charter Steel, National Lime & Stone, Tri-County Concrete, PSC Metals, Gateway Recycling, Minneapolis Flour, Ferro and Dougherty Lumber. In addition to railroad operations, NSR offers transload services for several industries.
