OmniTRAX Logistics Services Exec Addresses American Railway Development Association Conference
Posted On: July 14, 2015

DENVER – Tim Eklund, Vice President of Logistics and Transload at OmniTRAX Logistics Services, a division of OmniTRAX, Inc., is addressing the American Railway Development Association’s 2015 Annual Meeting in Denver today. Eklund is presenting a session titled The Short Line Railroad as Economic Development Partner as part of the conference’s Economic Development Outlook track.

“Short line railroads have a proven track record of re-invigorating business on their rail lines, many of which were former Class 1 railroad properties, by driving economic growth and creating jobs. My session shows that companies like OmniTRAX have the specific focus and unique capabilities needed to attract development and have a positive and lasting impact on underserved areas,” said Eklund.

Validating the impact of developments on rail properties, Eklund cites the recent example of the Great Western Industrial Park, where an OmniTRAX affiliate is re-purposing more than 2,000 acres in Windsor, CO. Leveraging the capabilities of The Broe Group, the Great Western Industrial Park has attracted several leading global companies like Halliburton, Cargill and Vestas. These companies have invested more than $800 million and created more than 1,700 direct jobs during the past decade. He also highlighted the company’s GEOTRAC project and incubator site in Brownsville, TX, which is drawing companies and jobs to that region.

The American Railway Development Association’s Annual Meeting, held at the Westin Denver Downtown, sessions and business meetings covering a wide variety of topics, including National Environmental Policy Act Process, Railroad Abandonments, Mineral Rights, Master Planning for Rail/Transit Projects, Storm Water Fees and Updates on Legal Issues.
