OmniTRAX Promotes National Guard and Reserves through Department of Defense Initiative

WASHINGTON, DC – OmniTRAX, one of the fastest growing railroads in North America and an affiliate of The Broe Group, today joined dozens of other industry leaders in publicly pledging to promote the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). Jason Cathey, Sr. Director of Operations at OmniTRAX, attended the official signing ceremony at the Pentagon  and made the company’s pledge.  ESGR is the principal Department of Defense program for cooperation and understanding between civilian employers and their National Guard and Reserve employees.

“We are constantly expanding our outreach to hire both veterans and members of the National Guard and Reserve. This program fits our goals of investing in the future generations of railroaders while supporting out country’s military,” said OmniTRAX CEO Kevin Shuba, an Army veteran.

OmniTRAX’s participation in the signing ceremony was facilitated by FASTPORT, a veteran employment software company that helps members of the military community find career opportunities; and Succession Planning for Railroads Investing in the Next Generation (SPRING), which works to attract and retain talent for railroads and rail-related suppliers. OmniTRAX, SPRING and FASTPORT, embracing ESGR, have created a registered apprenticeship program for conductors.

“The support OmniTRAX is giving the ESGR program, combined with their human capital management programs designed to attract and retain vets, guardsmen/women and reservists, will dramatically strengthen the talent pool in the extended rail industry for decades to come. We’re glad to be a part of their comprehensive efforts to ensure a vibrant and growing industry,” said Michele Malski, Founder and President of SPRING.
