POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will support all members of the OmniTRAX legal team, including General Counsel, VP of Contract Development, Corporate Counsel and Senior Paralegal.  This position may be expected to work across lines of business in association with Broe General Counsel on litigation and transactional matters. On litigation matters, this position will assist OmniTRAX General Counsel, the Senior Paralegal, outside counsel and all company departments responding to discovery requests in all types of litigation, including injury, regulatory, employment and miscellaneous litigation.  Responses frequently require written detailed and articulate drafting. On corporate matters, this position will assist guiding the process of newly formed companies in transactional matters through organization or incorporation and qualification in states of foreign jurisdiction and assist in OmniTRAX merger and acquisition closings and document maintenance and storage.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • Support all of the OmniTRAX legal team and on occasion work with the Broe General Counsel
  • Assist in monitoring documents and payments made with regard to litigation expenses, settlements, fines and monies exchanged during the purchase or sale of an asset by an affiliate company
  • Responsible for legal billing and coding within the Netsuite, Pericule and Avid data bases and will work with outside counsel to assure their invoices are properly submitted, coded and paid
  • Assist with the selection of outside counsel and take on responsibility for maintaining key dates in the legal calendar and organizing and scheduling internal and external conference calls pertaining to any number of legal issues
  • Assist in monitoring documents and payments made with regard to litigation expenses, settlements, fines and monies exchanged during the purchase or sale of an asset by an affiliate company
  • Respond to requests of all types of litigation with detailed and articulate drafts
  • Responsible for maintaining key dates in the legal calendar
  • Organizing and scheduling conference calls, both internal and external
  • Monitor documents and payments exchanged during purchase or sale of as asset by an affiliate
  • Review various types of contracts, and assist with attributing and storing them
  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • 5 years of commercial litigation experience, in-house legal experience is desirable, but not necessary
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work independently and have the ability to analyze a situation and develop solutions to problems
  • Knowledge of real estate is desirable, but not necessary
  • Knowledge of insurance fundamentals and how it applies to different types of cases is desirable, but not necessary
  • Must be detailed oriented
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft based applications, including Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel and Adobe Acrobat
  • Must be willing to learn new applications
  • Must possess either an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree; emphasis on accounting or finance is helpful
  • A Paralegal certification or Associate Degree is desirable, but not necessary
  • Strong verbal and writing skills
  • Notary Public standing is preferred
